Even though the hole looks small relative to the size of a leaf, keep in mind that leaves are brittle and break down, creating smaller leaves and twigs, all of which can enter your gutter — increasing your chance of clogs.

Look for a solid aluminum construction, which prevents rusting, distortion and the need for painting.
